Gas or Electric Rooftop Unit
A gas rooftop unit is a heating system that uses natural gas or propane to heat air in a commercial or industrial building. Installed on the roof, it distributes warm air through ducts throughout the building.
Its advantages include:
- high energy efficiency
- low installation cost
- affordable maintenance
In electric models, a coil is powered electrically to heat up. The fan blows air across the coil, which absorbs the heat, and redistributes it through the ducts.
Warehouse, Garage or Workshop Unit
This type of unit is typically installed high inside the building. When heating is required, the gas valve opens and the burner ignites. Once the combustion chamber is hot, a fan forces air over it and distributes the heated air into the space. Other units use radiant technology to quickly heat the area directly below.

Fan Coil Cabinet Unit
Like rooftop units, fan coil cabinets can use either gas (via a combustion chamber) or electricity (via a coil). These units are typically installed indoors in a mechanical room or concealed within a suspended ceiling. This type of installation avoids structural costly modifications that may be required if the roof cannot support a rooftop unit.
